| The Metropolitan Police Athletic League of Indianapolis Has been a part of the Indianapolis community for over 65 years. PAL provides a positive link between the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the youth of the city. The hope is that a trusting relationship between children and law enforcement role models will exist through structured activities, healthy lifestyles, and mentoring relationships that promote personal growth. |

| PAL was founded in Indianapolis in 1940 by J.R. Townsend, Director of the INDY Parks Dept. and Chief of Police, Michael F. Morrissey. As with any good concept, PAL took root and grew significantly over the years. |
